Thandazani ‘Zanezulu’ Mcetywa appeared in the Libode Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 23 November, the Eastern Cape traditional healer is accused of murdering a married couple and a former police officer.

Mcetywa (27) was arrested in April after the bodies of a married couple from Cacadu were discovered in their vehicle after consulting him.

Through the police investigations, Mcetywa was also linked to the murder of a retired police officer Bongiwe Fikela who died under the similar circumstances.

It is believed that the traditional healer, lured his victims using a social media platform, TikTok where he claimed to have supernatural powers to make people rich.

The Eastern Cape Regional Spokesperson for National Prosecuting Authority Luxolo Tyali said, “All victims are alleged to be his clients. The court has agreed that the release of the suspect and his co-accused will not be in the interest of justice.”

The matter has been postponed for the 30th of December 2022.
