The programme, aimed at empowering matric learners — particularly those in rural areas — is designed to equip them with vital information about higher education opportunities, study options, and funding support as they prepare for the 2026 academic year.
“This initiative is about ensuring that no learner is left behind when it comes to accessing further education and training. We want rural learners to feel seen, supported, and ready for their next chapter,” said Dr Gondwe ahead of the launch.
Learners attending today’s event will have access to information on university and TVET pathways, bursary options such as NSFAS, and guidance on navigating the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) sector.
The Matric Support Programme aligns with the goals of South Africa’s National Development Plan (NDP) 2030, and is supported by partners including the FP&M SETA, NSFAS, and the G20 Skills Working Group.
