What happened?
The Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court has denied bail to Victor Mthethwa Majola (44), who is charged with the murder of Warrick Stock, better known as DJ Warras. The fatal shooting occurred on 16 December 2025 outside the Zambesi Building in Johannesburg’s CBD. Majola faces charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Why it matters to you
This ruling confirms that Majola will remain in custody until at least 11 February 2026, when the case returns to court. The denial of bail also shows the court’s view of the seriousness of the charges and potential risks to public safety and trial integrity.
What the court said
In her ruling, the Magistrate noted several reasons for the bail refusal:
- Majola provided conflicting residential addresses
- There was a risk of witness intimidation, especially as some witnesses were known to the accused
- The accused posed a flight risk
- His alibi could not be tested as he chose not to testify during the bail hearing
The State successfully argued that Majola might evade trial and that the interests of justice would not be served by releasing him.
