Creating Memories at the 3rd Annual Matatiele Food Festival

Exploring with _Makhoza hosted the 3rd Annual Matatiele Food Festival on the 1st April 2023 in Matatiele at the open space between Taylor Bequest Hospital and Eskom. Under the theme “CREATING MEMORIES” and the festival was a BLAST as the festival lived up to its reputation of bring the community together through Delicious food and music.

The Matatiele Food Festival is fun event that is family oriented and there is something for everyone. Food vendors showed up and sold food that woke up the  taste buds of the attendees, such as cupcakes and brownies, burgers and chips, kota, and pap, shisa nyama to name a few. Face painting for the kids and jumping castles that kept them entertained, art & craft stalls and live music.

The organizers say the key objective  of hosting the annual Matatiele food festival is to uplift  the community of Matatiele by encouraging domestic tourism, while creating a vibrant and engaging community atmosphere. The festival was attended by number of people across the district. The speaker the Matatiele Local Municipality Cllr. Nonzwakazi Ngwanya with the Acting Economic Development General Manager. Ms. T. Matela together with the communication and LED team honoured the Food festival by walking around the event venue and speaking to the vendors before sitting down and enjoying the atmosphere and the food from different vendors.

According to the hosts, the food festival has shown great potential this year as the number of people attending increases year after year. The Festival was made possible by  the support of the local businesses in matatiele such as Ubile Security that ensures the safety of the attendees, Bellz Décor and Mehlomakulu Hire for aways proving event equipment. The Informer Digital TV together with Botle communications for promoting the festival. Exploring with Mkhoza said that  the willingness of the SMMES to be participant in the festival and the attendees that attend year after year made the festival to be what is was.
