In a significant milestone for the communities of Ward 12 and 13, the Alfred Nzo District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Vukile Mhlelembana, and Matatiele Local Municipality Portfolio Head, Cllr. Mzwamandla Nyembezi, officially handed over the Tholamela water Scheme. This ambitious project aims to provide clean drinking water to thirteen villages, benefiting over 24,000 households.
The Tholamela water Scheme is valued at R53,767,164.22 and will create approximately twenty job opportunities during its construction phase. The project involves the construction of an internal reticulation system, comprising 95.7 km of reticulation, 164 valve chambers, and 554 standpipes.
Mayor Mhlelembana emphasized the importance of community responsibility in maintaining the infrastructure, stating that vandalism will not be tolerated. He also expressed confidence that the project will bring positive change to families in need, prioritizing employment opportunities.
The launch of the Tholamela water Scheme marks a significant step towards ensuring access to clean drinking water for the communities of Ward 12 and 13.
