A video that was posted on a page on Instagram called “theshaderoom” of a woman who was physically violated by a police officer surfaced after the victim’s sister shared it on her Instagram story.
The victim’s sister narrates the story to the public and share that the victim and her friend were parked at a parking lot “hanging out” after hours unknowingly so. This is when the local officer, Officer Brooks pulled up on them and asked for their identification documents, he then later proceeded to give them a citation to sign. (“A citation is a directive, issued by a law enforcement officer or other person authorized by statue, that a person appears in court and answer a misdemeanor or infraction charge or charges”).
She continues to say that when Angel (victim) tried to get more information to understand what and why they were signing as well as asking for the officer’s badge number, Officer Brooks got irritated by the questions. This is when he started using excessive force to arrest her.
The video captured shows Officer Brooks using his man power over the victim as he continuously tries to handcuff her. The video continues to show the victim asking questions regarding the reason behind her arrest. She is later tripped and pinned down on the tar and that is when Officer Brooks took out his taser gun, but in the video he is not shown using it on the victim.
“He threw her to the ground and pulled out his taser. Where’s the respect as a citizen? Are we not allowed to ask questions about our rights without ego taking over? Why was a taser pulled out? Why was she frisked by a male officer? Aren’t police here to protect and serve? What kind of training is this?” said the victims sister
