In a groundbreaking move, the Alfred Nzo District Municipality has handed over a fully-equipped computer lab to the community of Thabachicha in Ward 14, Matatiele. This cutting-edge facility promises to revolutionize access to information and opportunities for residents, particularly children and the unemployed.
Executive Mayor Cllr Vukile Mhlelembana officially launched the Multi-Purpose Computer Lab, emphasizing that all residents can utilize the facility and enjoy free internet connectivity without incurring any costs. “This lab is a game-changer for our community. Everyone, regardless of age or background, can benefit from this resource without paying a single cent,” Mayor Mhlelembana stated.
The computer lab is expected to have a profound impact on the lives of Thabachicha residents. Students like Lunako Buteye, who will benefit from the lab, expressed excitement about the opportunities it presents.
This computer lab will help us with our homework and research assignments. It will also assist those who are unemployed to search for job openings, – Buteye said.
The lab will operate from 08:00 am to 16:00 pm on weekdays, with a dedicated assistant available to provide support and guidance to users. This initiative demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering its communities through technology.
