The AbaThembu Royal Kingdom has issued a statement clarifying that Mr. Mareke, who was recently killed in a confrontation with police, was not a recognized traditional leader or chief of the Mthatha West Area.
The Royal House emphasized that Mareke’s involvement in criminal activities, including extortion, was not sanctioned by the kingdom. They assured that law enforcement agencies will continue to deal with all criminal elements in the area.
The statement also served as a warning to individuals masquerading as chiefs or traditional leaders, enabling criminal enterprises, to cease their activities immediately.
King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo will maintain direct oversight leadership in the Mthatha West Area, ensuring stability and legitimate governance.
The statement was issued by Prince Zanothando Mtirara, AbaThembu Senior Royal Advisor, and Adv Matthew Mpahlwa, emphasizing the kingdom’s commitment to upholding the law and traditional authority.
