A young man (22) was arrested after the body of a girl (11) was found in the girl’s home in a pool of blood, under the bed. This incident took place in Kaplani village outside Mthatha Town.
It is alleged that the mother of the deceased was called by her daughter when she was on her way to work while the daughter was getting ready to go to school saying that someone is trying to break into the house. That’s where she called a neighbour who is also a relative to go and check.
The neighbor found the child’s body stabbed in the upper body, and an unknown young man who claimed to be looking for the deceased’s mother. That’s when the police were called and the suspect was arrested at the scene. It is said that the suspect is also a family relative. The suspect was beaten up by the residents before he was taken away by police.
A case of murder and sexual harassment has been opened and the suspect will appear in magistrate court soon.
