On Friday 26, Siyasandisa Daniel Nomagwala appeared in East London Magistrate Court for defrauding Road Accident Fund.
The 30 year old Nomagwala from Libode was involved in a car accident that occurred on R61 near Ngcono in 2016, one driver died from the accident while passengers were critical injured.
Captain Yolisa Mgolondela Hawks spokesperson in the Eastern Cape, said according to their reports Nomagwala was arrested on Wednesday in Northern Cape after it was discovered that he lied when making claims for RAF.
Captain Mgolondela said, “According to Road Accident Fund the driver is not legible to make claims, and at first Nomagwala said he was a passenger and later on said he was the driver of the second vehicle.”
On the first payout Nomagwala got R500,000 and he came back to make another claim and that is how he was caught because the statements were different and his matter was handed over to the Hawks for investigation. Captain Mgolondela said he was going to get a total payout of R1.6 million.
Siyasandisa Nomagwala is out on a bail of R2000 and is given a chance to look for a representative because his case is serious, he will appear again in East London Magistrate Court on the 30 September 2022.
