Eastern Cape police have arrested a woman for allegedly killing her four children in their home on Wednesday morning 09 November 2022.
The Eastern Cape police are still investigating the murder if four children who were assaulted by their mother with a sledge hammer at Mhlabubomvu village in Engcobo. According to the police report the 32-year-old mother together with her four children between the age of 11 and 2 years were sleeping in their Rondavel hut where four lifeless bodies of the kids were found.
South African Police Service spokesperson in the Eastern Cape Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said that their preliminary investigation as police revealed that the kids were assaulted by their mother and consequently they suffered serious injuries to their upper bodies.
“Circumstances surrounding the incident will form part of the investigation, the mother was arrested immediately and will be charged for murder. She is expected to appear in Engcobo Magistrate’s Court once charged,” Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana.
The deceased children were identified as Lizalise 11 years old, 9-year-old Inganathi, Othalive aged 5 and the 2-year-old Elihle.
