Tuesday, 26 July 2022, Bhala Tribal Authority released a media report that confirmed that MEC Xolile Nqatha and Nkosi Mavuso will appear in court for contempt of court. This follows after going against a court order that was granted by Chairperson of the Eastern Cape Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa, Nkosi Mwelo Nonkonyana by the Bhisho High Court last week against the MEC and Mr. Mavuso.
According to the media report MEC and Nkosi Mavuso have been acting as the Chairperson of the House since 31 July 2020. This seating however led to an election of a new Chairperson of the House (Nkosi Gwadiso), going against the court order by the Bhisho High Court on 9 August 2020.
“This order restrained and interdicted them from filling the position until the application to review to set aside his removal as the Chairperson of the House is finalized” as stated in the media report by Bhala Tribal Authority.
The report continues to mention that Nkosi Nonkonyana was removed as Chairperson of the House Friday, 31 July 2020, after allegedly going against COVID-19 regulations and working full-time as an advocate. The report further mentions that the suspension against Nkosi Nonkonyana was withdrawn by the Eastern Cape COGTA MEC Nqatha on 11 May 2020 which concludes the fact that he was not reinstated as the Chairperson of the House.

MEC Nqatha and Nkosi Mavuso have been directed by the court to show up on 16 August 2022, to give reasons as to why they should not be sentenced for contempt of court.
