More than 40 participants have been selected for paid creative work placements through a programme delivered by NEFCISA and The Music Imbizo.

The programme started on 25 February 2026 and will run until 31 August 2026, according to a press release issued by The Music Imbizo on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

What happened

The Music Imbizo confirmed the selection of more than 40 participants for the NEFCISA creative work placement programme.

The initiative forms part of preparations for The Music Imbizo 2026, a music industry conference and festival held in Durban.

Selected participants will work in real production environments supporting conference and festival outputs. Their roles include creative development, communications work and event-related production tasks.

The programme is supported by Music in Africa and the Social Employment Fund (SEF).

Official response

According to the organisation, the placement programme is designed to provide structured part-time employment and practical workplace experience in the creative sector.

The Music Imbizo said the initiative aims to strengthen the music value chain by building skills and expanding access to work opportunities for emerging practitioners.

More than R500,000 in wages will be paid to participants during the programme period.
