On 13 February 2026, SANDF Surgeon General Lieutenant General Dr Ntshavheni Maphaha joined Limpopo Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego at Elim Hospital. Military healthcare professionals performed critical eye operations and removed cataracts for patients who had waited long periods for surgery.
According to hospital officials, the team completed 89 successful procedures. This exceeded the stated weekly target of 75 cases. Hospital staff commended the initiative for its results and efficiency.
The campaign is continuing at the facility to assist more patients requiring specialised eye care.
