The Department of Agriculture has expanded food security support in the Ndlambe area. A total of 51 beneficiaries received piggery and poultry production inputs through programmes managed by the Alexandria Office.
Piggery Production Support
The piggery programme assisted 55 beneficiaries. These farmers received feed, materials, and technical support to strengthen small-scale piggery operations.
The beneficiaries include:
• 35 adult females
• 13 adult males
• 1 male youth
• 1 female youth
Officials say the support aims to boost household income and improve local food production. Many farmers in the area rely on piggery projects for survival and long-term growth.
Broiler Production Support
A further six beneficiaries received broiler production inputs. They fall under the Department’s Food Security programme for poultry farmers.
The beneficiaries include:
• 1 adult female
• 2 adult males
• 3 female youth
The support package helps farmers manage broiler cycles, improve feed efficiency, and increase meat supply in local markets.
Where Beneficiaries Are Located
All beneficiaries fall under Ward 1 and Ward 2 in the Ndlambe Municipality. These wards are serviced by the Alexandria Office, which oversees agricultural support in the area. The Department says the programme will continue to prioritise vulnerable households, women farmers, and rural youth.
