Who Can Apply for the Asset Assist Programme?
The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD), through the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Sefa), has reopened applications for its Asset Assist Programme.
The funding is aimed at helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with the purchase of:
- Equipment and machinery
- Working capital
- Raw materials (limited to 20% of total grant)
Businesses can apply for a maximum grant of R250,000.
✅ Eligible applicants include:
- South African-owned MSMEs registered with CIPC and tax compliant
- Sole proprietors with valid documentation
🚫 The programme excludes:
- Co-operatives
- MSMEs with turnover above R1 million
- MSMEs that previously received Asset Assist funding
What You Need to Apply
To complete your application successfully, you’ll need several documents and business details:
Required documents:

| Work permits | If employees are foreign nationals |
Applicants must be able to operate legally in South Africa.

Late or incomplete applications won’t be considered. The DSBD may also do physical verifications and will process submissions on a first-come, first-served basis.
