The DA-led City of Cape Town worked to deliver safer and smoother roads for residents through the Kommetjie Road upgrade. The project took place between Capri Drive and Wood Road near Masiphumelele.
What Happened
Work on the road upgrade was already well underway. Construction teams focused on widening the route and improving traffic flow. The project formed part of the City’s broader effort to improve mobility in the Deep South.
Teams completed major activities, including road layers, kerbing and asphalt surfacing. They also improved public transport stops along the route. Officials said the upgrades would ease congestion during peak hours.
Expected Community Benefit
The new additional lanes would benefit residents travelling to and from Kommetjie, Ocean View, Imhoff’s Gift, Heron Park, Masiphumelele and Sunnydale. The City expected the upgrades to reduce travel delays and improve safety.
Completion Timeline
Every effort was made to complete the project before the new year. The City said final inspections and touch-ups would follow once major construction ended.
