The Eastern Cape used the 2025 PGA Championship at St Francis Links from 25–30 November 2025 to promote the province as a top tourism and investment destination. Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT), working with Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) and represented by Chief Director for Economic Development Ms Nozipho Booi, emphasized the region’s natural beauty, culture, and growing economic footprint.
What Happened?
The province partnered with the PGA Championship 2025 to gain global visibility during one of the sporting calendar’s most-watched events.
Officials used the platform to market the Eastern Cape’s:
- pristine beaches and untouched coastal stretches
- dense forests, dramatic cliffs, and the iconic Wild Coast
- heritage attractions such as Nelson Mandela’s birthplace in Qunu
- adventure hotspots throughout Tsitsikamma, Drakensberg, and the Sunshine Coast
The activation aimed to position the Eastern Cape as a destination that blends sport, travel, culture, and investment opportunity.
Official Response
Ms Nozipho Booi said the partnership demonstrated the province’s commitment to both tourism recovery and long-term economic growth.
She emphasized that the Eastern Cape is South Africa’s leading automotive manufacturing hub, offering world-class logistics and investment readiness.
“The PGA gives us an opportunity to show the world who we are — a province of beauty, talent, resilience, and potential,” she said.

In addition to boosting visitor numbers, the championship showcased the province’s:
- expanding tourism economy
- cultural heritage sites
- adventure travel markets
