The Eastern Cape entertainment community today laid to rest renowned DJ, promoter, and community builder Volo Da Saint, who passed away in a car accident near King Shaka International Airport in Durban on 16 November 2025. As mourners gathered this afternoon, tributes continued to pour in from across the province and beyond, celebrating a life that uplifted thousands.
Volo Da Saint, born Nkokheli Twabu, was a commanding presence in the province’s creative landscape — a visionary organiser, bold risk-taker, and dedicated philanthropist. His events were more than entertainment; they were economic engines. Each year, he created over 100 temporary jobs, boosted local tourism, and built platforms for emerging artists to shine.

His flagship event, the OR Tambo Homage Concert, grew into one of the Eastern Cape’s most anticipated annual celebrations, consistently attracting leading performers such as Dlala Thukzin, Kelvin Momo, the late Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, Sjava, Cassper Nyovest and many more. For many young creatives, Volo’s stages became stepping stones to national recognition.
Friends and colleagues described him today as a man of purpose, generosity, and courage. Metro FM award-winning gospel artist Betusile Mcinga remembered him as a “pillar of pride,” while fellow entertainer DJ Mist SA wrote:
“You lived a full and purposeful life. You were a visionary and an exceptional risk-taker.”
As the family concluded the funeral proceedings this afternoon, they asked that his memory be honoured through continued celebration of the impact he made — in music, in business, and in community upliftment.
May his soul rest in peace, in honour and in power.
