The Department of Local Economic Development (LED) held its 2025 strategic planning session on 11 November 2025, led by Portfolio Head Councillor Ayanda Gantsho. The meeting brought together councillors, COGTA representatives, and key stakeholders to align plans for the coming year.

What Happened

The session reviewed annual and quarterly departmental reports, focusing on progress, challenges, and upcoming priorities. Stakeholders engaged in structured discussions designed to refine strategies for local economic growth and improved service delivery. They also shared insights aimed at strengthening coordination across municipal structures.

Official Response

Councillor Gantsho emphasized the urgency of firm, coordinated planning to support sustainable development. “We must align our work and move with purpose. Effective implementation is the only way to meet community needs,” she said.

Officials further stressed the importance of tightening internal processes and improving communication between departments and partners.

Community Impact

The planning outcomes are expected to shape programmes that support small businesses, job creation, and local industries. Better collaboration between the municipality and external stakeholders is also set to improve turnaround times on key LED initiatives.
