The Ntabankulu Local Municipality launched its Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget Outreach Program for the 2025/2026 financial year on 10 November 2025, across wards 1 to 4. The program aims to strengthen public participation and ensure that residents’ priorities directly inform municipal planning and budgeting.
What Happened
The outreach program began with vibrant community sessions in the first four wards, where Ward Councillors led presentations on ongoing projects, service delivery progress, and upcoming initiatives.
Residents packed local halls and outdoor venues to listen, question, and share ideas on improving essential services such as water supply, road maintenance, housing, and job creation. Each engagement served as a platform for open dialogue between the municipality and residents, reinforcing the principle of inclusive governance.
The IDP, often referred to as the municipality’s development road map, is central to how local government allocates resources and implements projects that reflect community priorities.
Official Response
Municipal leaders, including the Mayor and senior officials, joined the sessions to support councilors and encourage active participation.
“Our development agenda will always be guided by the people we serve. We value every suggestion and concern raised because it helps us plan better for a more prosperous Ntabankulu,” said the Mayor.
The municipality emphasized that transparency, accountability, and collaboration remain at the core of its planning approach, ensuring that service delivery targets are realistic and community-driven.
Community Impact
Residents welcomed the initiative, noting that it gives them a stronger voice in shaping their municipality’s future. Many praised the opportunity to engage directly with decision-makers and share experiences from their communities.
The outreach continues covering other wards and bringing local government closer to the people it serves. This engagement is expected to enhance trust, improve service delivery, and strengthen social cohesion across Ntabankulu.
