Walter Sisulu University’s Butterworth Campus recently hosted an appreciation event for first-year students from the Faculty of FMPAS and FEBEIT. Led by Intshayelelo 101 facilitators Sinothando Bacela, Oyena Mdingi, and Khanya Mangesi, alongside Coordinator Kwamila Vani, the team distributed gift packs to celebrate students’ hard work and creativity.
What Happened
The event celebrated the completion of the Intshayelelo WSU 101 portfolios — a milestone that encourages academic growth, collaboration, and self-development. The atmosphere was lively and positive as students received goodies in recognition of their commitment and teamwork.
Facilitators praised the learners for embracing the spirit of the Intshayelelo programme, which equips students with essential skills for university life. Many participants expressed appreciation for the support and mentorship provided throughout the course.
Official Response
Coordinator Kwamila Vani commended the students for their perseverance and positive attitude.
“Your dedication shows that success comes through consistency and enthusiasm. Keep that same energy as you continue your studies,” she said.
Facilitators Bacela, Mdingi, and Mangesi also encouraged students to apply the lessons from Intshayelelo beyond the classroom, focusing on leadership, digital competence, and ethical responsibility.
Community Impact
The Intshayelelo 101 initiative plays a vital role in helping first-year students transition smoothly into university life. It builds confidence, strengthens community ties, and fosters a sense of belonging within the WSU family.
As the year closes, the success of this group reflects the programme’s broader goal — nurturing capable, motivated, and forward-thinking students who will contribute meaningfully to society.
