The Ntabankulu Local Municipality officially handed over the contract for the rehabilitation of the Ntlanganano Access Road in Ward 1 on 04 November at Ebhayi SPS. This launch celebrates the beginning of a much-anticipated project set to improve mobility, safety, and connectivity for the Ntlanganano community.
What Happened
The rehabilitation of the Ntlanganano Access Road officially began on 04 November, a successful contract handover ceremony led by Ntabankulu Local Municipality officials. The project aims to restore and upgrade the vital route that links local homes, schools, and businesses to main transport corridors.
“This development will make a real difference in the lives of our residents,” said a municipal spokesperson. “We are transforming Ntlanganano’s access and ensuring safer, faster travel for everyone in Ward 1.”
The road, often affected by erosion and poor drainage, will now undergo full rehabilitation, including improved surfacing, signage, and stormwater management.
Official Response
Municipal leaders reaffirmed their commitment to service delivery under the slogan #sakha iNtabankulu engcono (“building a better Ntabankulu”). The Mayor’s office emphasized that the project aligns with ongoing infrastructure upgrades across the municipality.
“Our goal is to see lasting impact through projects that matter,” said the Mayor during the handover. “Roads connect opportunity. This one will connect Ntlanganano to progress.”
Community Impact
Residents welcomed the project, calling it a long-awaited improvement. Local teacher Nosipho Dlamini expressed optimism: “This road has been difficult to travel, especially during rains. We’re happy the municipality is taking action.”
The upgraded route will make school commutes safer, improve access to clinics, and support local economic activity. Construction is expected to generate temporary jobs for community members, adding further value to the initiative.
