The Office of the Speaker held a two-day traditional leadership conference in Siphaqeni on 3 November 2025. The event, hosted at the Assemblies of God Church Hall in Ward 9, Flagstaff, brought together traditional leaders and municipal representatives to strengthen cooperation.
What Happened
The session featured several key presentations and discussions. Chief Dinwayo delivered a report on the state of traditional initiation in the area. Mr. Ngcai from CoGTA outlined the role of traditional leaders in local governance. Mr. Mgudu, speaking on behalf of the Qaukeni Kingdom, shared insights on cultural leadership. Mr. Mashaba from the Municipality’s LED Department presented a ward development report.
Councillors, municipal officials, Community Development Workers, and Abantwana Begazi representatives also attended the gathering.
Key Message
Participants discussed the reports in detail, calling for stronger collaboration between traditional leaders and municipal structures. Speakers agreed that unity and partnership are vital for improving service delivery and bringing development closer to the people.
