The Faculty of Management and Public Administration has launched a three-day writing retreat for its 2025 Bachelor of Honours students in East London. The initiative aims to strengthen students’ research development and academic writing skills, particularly for those supported by NSFAS.
According to Dr. Masha, one of the facilitators, the retreat offers “a focused and structured environment” where students can refine their research projects and align their writing to academic standards.
Faculty Leadership Sets Ambitious Goals
At the opening session, Executive Dean Professor Nguza-Mduba expressed confidence in the 2025 Honours cohort, emphasizing the faculty’s dedication to student success.
“I am expecting a 100% graduation rate from our Honours students next year,” said Professor Nguza-Mduba.
The Dean mentioned that the retreat reflects the institution’s commitment to improving student outcomes through active mentorship and structured academic support.
Students Inspired to Give Back
Representing the Honours group, Gcobani Sanda described the retreat as empowering and transformative.
“This retreat is empowering each and every student. We are gaining skills that we can not only use now, but also plough back into our communities,” Sanda said.
The programme also aligns with NSFAS’s broader vision of developing graduates who can apply their learning to community upliftment and sustainable development.
