The Community Church in Bhisho held a heartfelt health awareness and prayer service on 19 October 2025, dedicated to appreciating and uplifting healthcare workers who continue to serve on the frontlines across the Eastern Cape.
The event, attended by local health officials and church members, focused on gratitude, prayer, and renewed support for the work being done by the Eastern Cape Department of Health and its leadership.
Their Story
At the heart of the service was a strong message: our healthcare workers deserve recognition, spiritual support, and encouragement. The gathering was not only a moment of prayer, but also a platform to reflect on the importance of health workers in maintaining community well-being.
Church leaders emphasised that faith communities have a role to play in uplifting the spirits of those who serve others especially in times of crisis or resource strain.
The Event
The service featured a keynote message from Ms Nothinina Fekade, District Manager for the Buffalo City Metro Municipality (BCMM) Health District. She expressed deep appreciation for the dedication shown by healthcare workers throughout the province.
“We need to keep them in our prayers,” Fekade told the congregation, “not only the doctors and nurses, but also the MEC for Health, Ntandokazi Capa, and every hand that contributes to health services in the Eastern Cape.”
The day blended praise, prayer, and motivation focusing both on physical health and emotional strength.
Community Reactions
Church members were moved by the message and expressed renewed commitment to praying for healthcare staff. Several attendees said they felt inspired to do more in supporting clinics and hospitals within their communities.
The service concluded with a prayer circle, where participants held hands and called for strength, wisdom, and resilience for those in the health sector.
