The O.R. Tambo District Municipality, in partnership with the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), hosted a strategic bylaw session aimed at tackling lawlessness and improving governance across the district.

Led by the Strategic Planning and Governance workstream, the session sought to create a united approach to restoring order and accountability. Key outcomes include developing a uniform framework for bylaws, strengthening capacity to enforce regulations, mapping flood-prone areas, and finding lasting solutions to community risks.

The initiative goes beyond tightening rules. It seeks to rebuild fairness, justice, and trust while ensuring municipalities stand together in the fight against neglect and injustice.

The OR Tambo leadership emphasized that the mission is not only about laws but about restoring dignity and building resilience. By aligning efforts across King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality, Nyandeni Local Municipality, Ingquza Hill Local Municipality, and Mhlontlo Local Municipality, the district aims to deliver safer, stronger communities.

The message emerging from the session was firm: neglect and injustice will no longer be tolerated.
