The African National Congress (ANC) has condemned recent public statements made by senior members Malusi Gigaba and Senzo Mchunu, accusing them of violating the party’s communication protocols and threatening internal unity.

In a worded statement issued by National Spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri, the ANC said the remarks were made without any organisational mandate and represent a deliberate effort to “de-campaign” the party.

“These comrades acted outside of sanctioned structures, undermining the integrity and cohesion of the ANC,” said Bhengu-Motsiri. “Their statements must be seen as opportunistic assaults on the collective image of the movement.”

The ruling party reiterated that it is guided by principles of democratic centralism and that no individual is above the discipline required of all members.

The ANC accused Gigaba and Mchunu of portraying the party as “divided and collapsing,” and stated that such conduct emboldens forces seeking to reverse the democratic gains made since 1994.

“The ANC will take the necessary steps to correct this behaviour. No comrade will be exempt from organisational discipline,” added the spokesperson.

The statement comes amid the ANC’s ongoing renewal campaign aimed at restoring public confidence and enforcing stricter internal governance.

“We call on all members to recommit to the founding principles of our movement—discipline, unity, and revolutionary morality,” the statement concluded.

The ANC has not yet indicated what disciplinary measures may be taken, but insiders suggest that formal internal proceedings are likely.
