ActionSA has expressed serious concern over the state of public infrastructure in Tshwane’s inner city following a joint oversight visit to the abandoned Telkom Towers. The inspection, led by ActionSA MP Malebo Kobe and MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Councillor Kholofelo Morodi, highlighted how the neglected building has become a symbol of urban decay.
According to ActionSA, the failure to repurpose such facilities has contributed to crime and deterioration in the city centre. The party emphasized that infrastructure remains central to the revival of Tshwane’s inner city and must not be left to collapse.
Councillor Henriette Frohlich, ActionSA Tshwane Caucus Spokesperson, alongside Kobe, stressed that effective cooperation is required between all three spheres of government to prevent further decline. They argued that instead of being left abandoned, buildings like Telkom Towers should be repurposed and utilized for the benefit of surrounding communities.
