The Eastern Cape Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) has concluded its Director’s Forum Meeting today at the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality (WMMLM), with a firm commitment to assist municipalities facing administrative and operational challenges.

The two-day session brought together directors from across the province and included strategic presentations from key partners such as the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and the Auditor General’s Office. The aim was to gather input on how to improve technical capacity, compliance, and audit performance within municipalities.

Resolutions from the forum focused on directing support to municipalities under administration and strengthening those at risk through targeted interventions and skills development initiatives.

WMMLM welcomed the opportunity to host the event, noting the positive impact on the local economy as provincial delegates gathered in the area.

The Director’s Forum is one of several platforms led by EC COGTA to improve governance, boost financial management, and enhance service delivery across the province’s municipalities.
