- Participation of Educational Institutions and Professionals: The event featured representatives from universities, colleges, and private organizations, along with professionals like doctors and engineers, to provide diverse career perspectives.
More than 500 high school learners received valuable career guidance and inspiration at the Career Expo held yesterday at Dangwana Senior Secondary School in KwaBhaca.
Organised by the Sakhikamva Foundation, the expo brought together a wide range of participants — from higher education institutions to government departments and private organisations — all with one mission: to help Grade 10 learners discover potential study options and career opportunities.
“We want to uplift education in rural areas and make sure learners have access to information about skills and careers they can pursue after completing Grade 12,” said Onke Mkiva from the Sakhikamva Foundation.
Among the institutions present were the University of Fort Hare, Nelson Mandela University, Lilitha Nursing School, Ingwe TVET College, King Hintsa College, and King Sabata Dalindyebo College. Attendees also had the opportunity to engage with professionals, including doctors and engineers, who shared insights into their fields.
Learners from schools such as Ngwekazi SSS, Dangwana SSS, Mt Frere SSS, Zibokwana SSS, and KwaShushu SSS attended the expo and took part in various activities aimed at helping them shape their future paths.
The Career Expo forms part of a broader initiative to make educational and career support more accessible in rural communities, ensuring that no learner is left behind when it comes to planning for life after school.
