The election was held during the board’s first sitting following Cabinet’s formal appointment of the new members, whose term began on 5 July 2025. Both Hill and Nkado were part of the previous board and are credited with guiding the organisation through a challenging period.

Minister Macpherson praised their continued leadership as a decisive step in restoring stability and strengthening governance at the IDT. He said their reappointment signaled a rejection of efforts by corrupt elements who had sought to destabilise the organisation for personal gain.

“Their leadership has been instrumental in the turnaround of the IDT,” said the Minister. “Their renewed mandate confirms the board’s commitment to ethical leadership, service delivery, and transparency.”

Macpherson expressed confidence that the board under their leadership will move swiftly to conclude lifestyle audits, implement audit recommendations, and address allegations of procurement irregularities. He also emphasised the importance of finalising the EY forensic audit into the R800 million PSA Oxygen plant tender.

The Minister thanked the outgoing board for their service and pledged support for the new leadership. He underscored the IDT’s crucial role in driving infrastructure development and job creation.
