Mrs. Mahlasela, who joined ANDM in May 2017 from Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality — where she left a record of a clean audit — has been widely credited for strengthening the municipality’s financial governance. Under her stewardship, ANDM moved from a qualified audit opinion to achieving a clean audit during the 2023/24 cycle, as confirmed by the Auditor-General of South Africa.

In a statement released on 2 April 2025, Executive Mayor Councillor Vukile Mhlelembana described her departure as a significant loss to the institution and the residents of Alfred Nzo.

“We congratulate the CFO and wish her well on her future endeavors. She arrived when the institution was under qualification, and now leaves us with a clean audit,” said Cllr. Mhlelembana.

Throughout her tenure, Mahlasela played a central role in guiding the Budget and Treasury Department during fiscally challenging periods, ensuring that service delivery standards were upheld across the district. Her leadership has been characterised by professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to financial transparency.

The municipality has confirmed that it will soon initiate formal processes to declare the vacancy and begin recruitment for a new CFO.
