Eskom has declared Stage 3 loadshedding from 16:00 today to 05:00 Saturday, addressing a critical generation capacity shortage. Unplanned outages total 17,391MW, with 4,654MW undergoing planned maintenance.

Starting Thursday, Eskom will transition to Stage 2 loadshedding from 05:00 Saturday to 05:00 Sunday, followed by Stage 1 until 16:00 Sunday. The utility vows to closely monitor and communicate updates.

Teams are working to restore 4,700MW by Sunday evening, including expediting the return of Koeberg Unit 1.
