Eastern Cape Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture MEC handed over sports equipment and attire to dozens of sports clubs, hubs, schools and leagues in the Joe Gqabi District on Tuesday, 08 August 2023 in Moletswai.

The handover forms part of the department’s mandate of sport development in the province which is targeting disadvantaged communities.

The cost amount of the equipment and attire is R650 000. It was distributed to 20 schools, four hubs, and ten clubs. The beneficiaries are from Walter Sisulu, Senqu and Elundini local municipalities.  

MEC spokesman Yanga Funani says the event went well and everyone was equipped respectively accordingly. Schools and clubs came in numbers to collect their equipment, moreover, such initiatives are a priority in their department.
