5km walk to commemorate the iconic former president Nelson Mandela

On Friday 02 December, the Nelson Mandela museum in Mthatha in partnership with the department of sport, recreation, arts and culture marks 9 years since the death of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

The Nelson Mandela Museum in Mthatha in partnership with the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture are hosting the commemoration of his death. The commemoration started with a 5KM walk in Mthatha, KSD. Thus events intend to continue teaching young generation about Nelson Rholihlahla Mandela as the participants in the 5km walk were mostly kids and youth.

Athobe Rholinyathi was one of the kids who won a medal and expressed herself about the commemoration of Nelson Mandela.

“Walk was fantastic and i feel more refreshed also being i am happy that I came to listwn and learn about our father our hero uTat’ Nelson Mandela who fought for the nation to become a better place to live in also as a kid it is important to know about my history” said Rholinyathi

Sinethemba Ngobe is one of the young artist who builds statue’s and draw beautiful pictures who dream to see one of his work in Mthatha Nelson Mandela museum one day.

“It is my dream that one day my work will be stored in the house of the iconic legend uTat’Nelson Rholihlahla Mandela and such events really refresh our minds in remembering our fallen heroes” said Ngobe.
