In a recent breakthrough in the fight against organized crime, a multi-disciplinary task force apprehended a 41-year-old man for possession of explosives. The operation was conducted by the Cash-In-Transit Interim Task Team in collaboration with the SAPS Tactical Response Team (TRT), Hawks, Mthatha Bomb Disposal Unit, and local criminal record center members.

The arrest took place around 9 PM when the team executed a search warrant at the suspect’s homestead in Mdlankomo location, Libode under Nyandeni Local Municipality following an ongoing investigation linked to the suspect’s alleged involvement in planning Automated Teller Machine (ATM) bombings.

Upon arriving at the property, the task force found the suspect on-site and conducted a thorough search. Inside a blue plastic bag, officers uncovered eight wrapped commercial explosives along with yellow and white cords used for detonating explosive devices.
