Sun International’s only beach resort, The Wild Coast Sun just added Barcelos in the list of restaurants you can find when you are visiting the casino. The flame grilled chicken restaurant was opened on Monday, and it was already packed with people queuing outside to place their orders.
Devin Lane speaking on behalf of his Co-owners Lonwabo Mtatshi, and Michael Underwood said they approached wild coast to open Barcelos, to offer flame grilled chicken at an affordable price not only to the clients of the casino but to the community members as well.
“The opening has been extremely busy and successful; we’ve done more than all of our expectations and we are happy,” said Devin Lane
Barcelos created employment for several community members and three of the people employed are from the learning program that wild coast sun puts together through the new Wild Coast Sun Academy in partnership with the International Hotel School. Davin Lane said that they are trying to support and empower their employees to a point where they can buy into the business and become shareholders.
“Work hard because you never know who is watching and who is going to give you an opportunity and when you get that opportunity, grab it with both hands because you will never know where you will end up and just keep pushing hopefully good things will come”. Lonwabo Mtatshi’s advise to aspiring business owners.
Pondoland Times spoke with one lovely customer Amina Shaik about her experience at Barcelos so far, she said on the first day of the opening it was very busy, but it was nice to see that everyone was very on the ball and the staff members were accommodating and kept on interacting with the customers making them feel welcome. On Monday they ordered takes outs because they were the last customers and went back on Tuesday for a seat in experience.
For customer convenience Barcelos offers two types of ordering stations one for take-outs and the other for seat-ins and thier flame grilled chicken is halal permissible.
