Walter Sisulu University (WSU) has opened applications for unemployed graduates to be appointed as tutors in its Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) for the 2026 academic year.
The programme offers 10-month fixed-term contracts aimed at strengthening academic support for foundation-level students, while also providing short-term employment opportunities for graduates who studied at the institution.
What Is the Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP)?
The Extended Curriculum Programme supports students enrolled in foundation and extended programmes, helping them transition successfully into mainstream academic studies.
Tutors play a key role by:
- Facilitating tutorials
- Providing academic support
- Assisting with assessments and student development
Successful applicants will be placed across four WSU campuses and within various faculties.

- Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology
- Law, Humanities and Social Sciences
- Management and Public Administration Sciences
- Natural Sciences
Who Can Apply?

Minimum qualifications range from selected diplomas to bachelor’s degrees and BSc programmes, depending on the subject area.
Contract Duration
- Duration: 10 months
- Period: February 2026 – November 2026

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Facilitate face-to-face and online tutorial sessions
- Provide formative assessments and constructive feedback
- Offer academic and one-on-one student support
- Lead discussions, presentations, debates, and practical activities
- Assist with invigilation and marking
- Monitor student attendance and performance
- Compile and submit weekly reports
Skills Required
