Mbizana, — The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), in collaboration with Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) and other key stakeholders, hosted a Women Empowerment Information Dialogue in Ntlenzi Village, Ward 10, Mbizana. The event, held at the Phumelele James Mhlanti Community Hall within the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality, aimed to support and uplift local women, particularly those engaged in small businesses.

Cllr. Msindo warmly welcomed the residents of Ntlenzi Village, expressing his gratitude that the event took place during Women’s Month. He acknowledged the significant challenges faced by the community, including a recent tragic incident where a woman was shot 11 times, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in restoring hope and empowering women in the area.

He emphasized the importance of empowering women to become self-reliant, particularly through supporting small businesses such as poultry farms and spaza shops, which can provide sustainable income for their families.

Guest speaker Mrs. Venn, who described herself as a “jack of all trades,” encouraged women to be proactive in their business endeavors. Drawing from her own experiences, she highlighted the importance of having a solid business plan to secure funding and urged the women not to limit themselves. She acknowledged the challenges inherent in running a business but advised the women not to be discouraged, suggesting they try different ventures until they find success.

Various departments presented information on how they assist women-owned businesses, stressing the necessity of having essential documents like a business plan and tax clearance. These were highlighted as critical tools for solving problems, making key business decisions, and identifying target markets.

The Women Empowerment Information Dialogue was an important step towards educating and empowering the women of Ntlenzi Village, Ward 10. It emphasized the vital role of business knowledge and government support in helping women achieve economic independence and success.
