On Tuesday the 13th of May the honorable Mayor T.D Mafumbatha handed over farming products to a number of farmers from all wards at the Oliver Tambo Cultural Village.
The objective was to assist farmers with developing their business and combating poverty in the communities of Bizana by ensuring farmers or small businesses receive sufficient support from the municipality.
Honorable Mayor highlighted that the most interesting aspect in the handover is the involvement of youth, which is an indicator that young people are not siting down waiting for opportunities to come to them, young people are also part and parcel of creating employment.
Ms. Fikiswa Tshezi from Nqabeni (ward 12) was one of the recipients and she said she was very happy to receive feed for her chicks, she added that she wishes that most people copy the idea of doing things by themselves as it allows one to have self-growth.
Ms. Vanekiso Florence is one of the farmers who were supported she grows chicks’ chicken, pigs, sheep she says she was very happy to receive support from Winnie Madikizela local Municipality.
One of the beneficiaries was so happy to receive her feed and she started singing and chanting with joy and shared words of gratitude to the honorable mayor.
