Ward 01 Councillor Khanyisa Mazwi met with residents of Maluti this week to discuss ongoing service delivery challenges in the township. The meeting, which drew municipal officials and council members, gave community members a chance to raise concerns and get answers directly from those responsible.

Among the top issues discussed were the presence of stray animals, particularly horses, that continue to pose safety risks in the area. Waste management also emerged as a major frustration, with many residents highlighting the overflow of refuse bins and delays in collection.

Councillor Mazwi said his office, together with the Ward Support Assistant, Ward Committees and the Community Development Worker, has been visiting different sections of the ward to listen to residents. He noted that bringing government closer to the people helps ensure that services are delivered more effectively and that accountability is maintained.

“This initiative is about holding local government accountable and ensuring that the voices of residents are heard and acted upon,” Councillor Mazwi told the gathering.

The councillor added that ongoing engagement with residents would remain a priority as part of the commitment to building stronger, more responsive governance in Maluti.
