25-year-old Bizana born singer and song writer hopes to inspire the youth to shoot for the stars with her upcoming EP. Ovuyo Msebenzi, famously known by her stage name, Ovee, is currently in studio working on her first solo project after being featured on several released and unreleased projects in the past two years. She has described the project as an intimate piece of work that will offer her fans a personal tour into who Ovee is and what she has to offer in the music industry.
The talented songstress has been hard at work scoring features on several projects since 2017 with the most notable feature coming from her collaboration with the dynamic dance music duo, 039 Kings. Their hit song titled Summer Time has been doing relatively well on digital platforms since it’s release late last year. “I believe I have a story to tell and I hope that people will listen to it, let the project grow in them and fall deep in love with it like I am doing”. Said Ovee, describing her journey with the project. “I have learned a lot in the past three years, I have grown a bit musically and I am very much ready to deliver” she continued.
Her music journey has not been a walk in the park with many challenges and short comings that have become synonymous with the career of many independent artists but that has not deterred her from going for her dreams. She has described her journey as one full of “speed humps and potholes” but she is determined in delivering a project of superior quality. “You know in life you face many challenges along the way to success. The journey has been filled with speed humps and potholes bigger than the ones on R61 to Bizana” she continued, laughing. Her first project will be released independently and her biggest challenge has been sourcing the budget to market the project properly to ensure it reaches all music lovers.
She says her inspiration to work hard and perseverance is drawn from her peers from her small town of Bizana who are working hard with very limited resources and support. “The drive from certain individual amongst my peers keeps me going and I also want to be part of that youth that inspires hopes to the current and coming generation. To let them know that it is possible” she concluded. Her upcoming project will feature a mix of genres from Soulful House to Afro Pop.
