On 13 November 2025, Umzimvubu Local Municipality convened a key initiation meeting in KwaBhaca. Speaker Councillor Ndanele Mdzinwa led the session with traditional leaders, men’s forums, and community structures. The gathering focused on preparing for the upcoming summer ulwaluko season.
What Happened
Traditional leaders, iiNkosi, iingcibi, amakhankatha, and community forums joined the session to discuss safety, readiness, and shared responsibilities.
Departments also participated, including the Department of Health, the National Youth Development Institute, and SAPS.
The meeting outlined coordination, early planning, and awareness as crucial steps for a safe season.

Speaker Mdzinwa thanked all stakeholders for their commitment. “We thank all the Chiefs, traditional surgeons, traditional nurses, the Forum, and everyone who attended this gathering. It was very meaningful.” he said.
Officials agreed to strengthen monitoring, reinforce health protocols, and maintain open communication throughout the season.
