On 23 October 2025, Hibberdene police arrested two men, aged 24 and 36, linked to the murder and robbery of Mrs. Khanyisile Ngwane (64) from Nhlabamkhosi in Mthwalume. The suspects were found in possession of items believed to have been stolen from the victim’s home.
What Happened
On 14 October 2025, police discovered the lifeless body of Mrs. Ngwane inside her home, lying in a pool of blood. Early investigations showed that her residence had been ransacked, and valuable belongings were missing. A murder and house robbery case was immediately opened at Hibberdene Police Station.
Following intensive investigations, officers arrested a 24-year-old man in Nyangwini with property believed to have been taken from the crime scene. Later that same day, a 36-year-old suspect was also apprehended for his alleged involvement in the murder.

Community Impact
The arrests have brought relief to the Mthwalume community, which has been shaken by the murder. Both suspects are expected to appear before the Mzumbe Magistrate’s court soon.
