Acting on intelligence, a joint task team made up of members from Komani Crime Intelligence, Whittlesea South African Police Service (SAPS), Gqeberha Tactical Response Teams (TRT), Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) Hawks, Komani K9 Unit, and Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) from Gqeberha tracked down a suspect vehicle in Gqeberha on 30 September.
Inside the car, police found four occupants, bags filled with new clothes, and bank slips. The investigation led officers to a house where they discovered an unlicensed firearm and an undisclosed amount of money.

Three of the occupants were arrested and formally charged with kidnapping and armed robbery.
Official Response
District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph praised the collaborative police effort and the role of local residents:
“I commend the quick response in acting on the information received and the vigilance in spotting the vehicle. I also thank the community members whose valuable information led to the arrest of the perpetrators,” he said.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Whittlesea Magistrate’s Court soon.
