Reigning Dstv Premier Soccer League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns FC, will face off against current reigning CAF Champions League champions, Wydad Athletic Club, this Saturday, May 13th, at 21h00 in the first match of the two-legged semi-final at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca, Morocco.
Despite dominating the local league and ending the group stages at the summit, Sundowns will face a tough challenge from Wydad Athletic Club, who won the tournament last year after beating the African club of the century. Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena will be looking to lead his team to victory and right a few wrongs after crashing out in the quarter-finals of the tournament last year.
The second leg will take place on May 20th, with Sundowns having a slight advantage of playing in front of their home crowd. The winner of the two-legged semi-final will advance to the finals of the most elite continental club football competition in Africa. Sundowns will count on top-performing players such as Peter Shalulile and Tebogo Mokwena to secure a spot in the finals.
