The Stakeholder Structures Extended Meeting continued into its second day, with delegates returning to present reports from the commissions established on 18 November 2025. The session created space for honest engagement on how education structures can better support the Department’s Strategic Plan. The meeting also tackled system-wide challenges affecting schools and communities.

What Happened

Day 2 began with commissions reporting back on the topics they had discussed. Delegates then moved into open dialogue on the alignment of stakeholder structures with departmental priorities.
The discussions stressed several urgent focus areas:

  • Improving coordination and communication
  • Strengthening accountability across structures
  • Tackling infrastructure backlogs, scholar transport gaps, and uneven resource distribution
  • Supporting learning recovery programmes
  • Ensuring structures receive adequate resources to function effectively

Participants also reviewed the performance of Winter and Spring School programmes. They examined how these catch-up initiatives can become more structured, better resourced, and more responsive to learner needs.

Official Response

Department officials praised the quality of engagement and emphasised the need for stronger partnerships. “We must build systems that speak to the realities in our schools. Collaboration and accountability remain key,” one official said.

The department also stressed the value of data-driven planning, noting that evidence-based interventions will help improve learner outcomes.

Community Impact

The discussions are expected to guide targeted improvements in schooling, particularly in areas where infrastructure shortages and transport challenges affect learner performance. Strengthened coordination between stakeholder structures is also set to improve communication and support for communities.
