On the 16th of June concerned DESRAC (Alfred Ndzo District) held this conference at Snawe Conference Hall to revive sport participation in Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality, besides the fact that Bizana has been very visible in sports a few years back. Respected in volleyball, it has been slowly diminishing over the years and become the home of football as this is the most visible code among four played codes out of the 16 priority codes identified by the national department of Sport Recreation Arts and Culture.
The issue of malfunctioning of the Sports Councillor of Mbizana kept popping up as some areas were better addressed direct to the municipality and their failure to attend this meeting raised moans and dissatisfaction to the stake holders. The meeting commenced at 17h00 to 00h50 during these discussions consensus was reached by both parties (stake holders and the department) that all schools should be encouraged to participate in sport and be provided with facilities, parents should be involved in sports.
Strategic planning includes Development of coaches, Formation of codes structures, participation in Leagues, and formation of healthy working relations between school coaches and federation, traditional leaders, Department of Education, Department of home affairs, municipality and the department of health. An organized sport indaba to share information and address challenges was also agreed upon to mention the few resolutions of the meeting.
Ms Gcadinja (an Alfred Ndzo District official) Presented the department’s annual operational plan, showing the allocation of funds against the activities then announced the actual viewing of the trophy as South Africa is hosting Netball world cup on a trophy tour that is happening on the 30th of June 2023 in Mount Frere at 09h00 to 13h00.
