Durban senior member of the KZN legislature and former ANC Youth League deputy chair Siboniso Duma has unseated Sihle Zikalala. Duma received 930 votes to Sihle Zikalala’s 665 ballots following a tight competition to lead the governing party’s largest province.
The conference which has been seamless throughout nominated and cast ballots for new leaders on Saturday with the results being delivered on Saturday evening.
Delegates in attendance proudly with loud cheers and singing welcomed the news that Duma had unseated Zikalala.
As the conference seamlessly continued, controversial former Newcastle mayor Dr. Ntuthuko ‘Junda’ Mahlaba was elected as treasurer. Nomagugu Simelane, the only female official takes over from Mdumiseni Ntuli as provincial secretary and Sipho Hlumoka returns to his previous role as deputy treasurer.
The attendees also found time to express their concerns over the alleged abuse of former ANC president Jacob Zuma delegates chanting into “wenzeni unxamalala?”.
